1. a bolt which has the head embedded in concrete but the thread protruding and so is available to support a load through which it passes and to which it is made firm by tightening the nut of the bolt.
2. a bolt with the same purpose but held in a hole drilled into the concrete or brick by epoxy resin or an attachment to the bolt itself which expands and holds it in when the nut is tightened.
